Eject – the Long Night of the Unexpected

Eject  – the Long Night of the Unexpected, has evolved into a cult phenomenon! Spawned by the interfilm Festival in 1998 and now one of its most integral annual components, Eject is certainly the most spectacular film event Berlin has ever seen: On a long, late evening in the usually sold-out theatre, Volksbühne at Rosa Luxemburg Platz, a selection of the weirdest and most wonderful interfilm festival entries are shown to an eager, but highly discerning crowd. After receiving a bag of surprises at the door including party horns, balloons and candy, the audience is required to use their 'voting utensils' to elect their favourite film and eject the others as loudly and colourfully as possible. Fitting musical accompaniment is provided by Sir Henry on the organ while Humpert Schnakenberger steers the audience through an evening of mayhem with his inimitable, formidable style. After approximately 100 minutes of truly unexpected film delights the audience winner is announced and the ensuing Eject Party celebrations commence at the in-house club, Rote Salon.
